Photo-Shoot Plan 3

Photo shoot planning document- Article 3- Low Budget Review

Date and time of photo shoot: TBC

Material to be shot: 2 photos, one of the 3 characters from the game- Michael, Trevor and Lester. The other of a supposed store robbery featuring a model as a store owner and one in a balaclava holding a water gun.

What personnel do you need?

Lighting assistant: 1
Makeup assistant: 1
Models: 3/5

What props will you need?
I will need 2-3 water guns, a balaclava and a baseball bat. This could be a plastic toy bat or a real wooden one. The balaclava will be used to illustrate the “robbery” picture.  The last prop would be a cane to represent Lester accurately.

Describe in detail your make-up & costume needs. (Include reference material to illustrate your needs)
The three characters will be represented accurately through costumes with Michael and Lester models being dressed smartly whereas the Trevor model will be dressed in casual wear or if possible dirty overalls. For the second photo I will have a fake store clerk getting robbed by a model in a balaclava.

(include reference material to illustrate your needs)

Backdrop: there will be a plain white backdrop so that the three characters will be easily noticeable and the centre point of the image.

Lighting equipment needs: this will rely on lighting the models, as the background will be purely white with all emphasis on the characters.

Photo Shoot Plan 2

Photo shoot planning document – Pre-Order Nightmares

Date and time of photo shoot: TBC

Material to be shot: this is a image of an incredibly unhappy model clutching a condemned game to their chest.

What personnel do you need?

Lighting assistant: 1
Makeup assistant: 0
Models: 1 – has been shot once but the photo needs to be re-taken for better quality.

What props will you need? The only prop I need is the game my model will be clutching, Aliens Colonial Marines.

Describe in detail your make-up & costume needs. (Include reference material to illustrate your needs)

This is a normal model in their normal clothes photographed to about their waist clutching the game to their chest. There is no necessary costume or make-up. The facial expression is the important part of the image and from the first attempt at the issue this will not be an issue.

Studio shoots: what kind of lighting?
(include reference material to illustrate your needs)

Backdrop: This will be a dark and shadowy background that will not really be definable or visible so could be anything. The main objective of this photograph is to get a great shot of the model.

Lighting equipment needs: This will probably be butterfly lighting, as the model will not be angled for narrow lighting. The effect should clearly show the facial expression.

Photo shoot Plan 1

Photo shoot planning document – Is War the Answer?

Date and time of photo shoot: TBA

Material to be shot: 12 person, staged war with 6 “soldiers” and 6 gamers. They will be charging at each-other providing a dynamic image.

What personnel do you need?

Lighting assistant: 0
Makeup assistant: 0
Models: 12

What props will you need? 6 fake guns, six army helmets/ costumes and six Xbox 360 controllers.

Describe in detail your make-up & costume needs. (Include reference material to illustrate your needs)
I will need to create 6 “soldiers.” This will probably just mean giving them army helmets and fake guns to make a parody-esque image.  There is an example of the types of guns I intend to use. The other army will be of casual gamers in plain clothes wielding Xbox 360 controllers.

Studio shoots: what kind of lighting?
(include reference material to illustrate your needs)

Backdrop: Will be in a field or park outdoors making use of natural environment and attempting to simulate a battlefield

Lighting equipment needs:
Will rely on natural lighting meaning I will have to take this image during the day.

Mixed voice article with parts in first person describing personal experiences, 2nd person direction at readers and some 3rd person sections.
Register

Formal article with some colloquial lexis to avoid sounding too intimidating. There will be no real use of dialect and taboo will not be used.

(repetition, strong verbs, adjectives, alliteration, similes, metaphors, sentencing, rhythm)
High adjective use with reference to war based vocabulary and repetition of dreary gameplay. There may be use of alliteration and metaphors linking with imagery.

There will be some sarcastic point but it will mainly be a general formal and informative tone with so irony used to illustrate points.

Article 2: Pre-Order Nightmares

Planning Comments
article genre
(purpose, type)
This is an opinionative and warning based article on the dangers of modern pre-ordering. This will have to be clearly branded as an opinion or I face being accused of slander.
Narrative voice
(1st, 2nd or 3rd person)
This again is a mixed voice article, featuring first person personal experiences and 2nd person audience directed language. There will be mainly 3rd person referring to company and game names.
Register
(informal/formal, colloquial, dialect, taboo words?)
This will be a formal article that sticks with a serious tone. It is intended to warn and shock over the shady practices of the industry. There will be no taboo language and the introduction will be summarising the article.
Stylistics
(repetition, strong verbs, adjectives, alliteration, similes, metaphors, sentencing, rhythm)
There is a strong repetition of the point that this is a warning article and will alert the audience to the issues with marketing. The lexis is direct and won’t make use of metaphors or similes.  There may be some gamer jargon and specialist vocabulary.
Tone of address
(hectoring, sarcastic, ‘matey’, ironic, etc)
There will be sarcasm but the tone will mainly be one of shock and warning. There may be some irony but I intend to keep the article serious.
Structure and pace
(discourse structure, logical paragraphing, connectives, conclusion)
This is a six-column article with paragraphs dedicated to examples, warning and practices. It is a relatively slow paced article with heavy language use and only one central image.

Planning Comments
article genre
(purpose, type)
This is a review of a popular game on the market right now. It is a celebration of as great game produced by a great company. This is a generic review to fulfil gaming magazine conventions.
Narrative voice
(1st, 2nd or 3rd person)
3rd and 1st person as it is mainly a general overview of the game mechanics and features with snippets of personal response.
Register
(informal/formal, colloquial, dialect, taboo words?)
Much more informal and colloquial than previous articles with a lot of gaming jargon but still no taboo language.
Stylistics
(repetition, strong verbs, adjectives, alliteration, similes, metaphors, sentencing, rhythm)
Possible alliteration and strong adjective use. Minor use of metaphors but no rhythm as such. The article will flow from one topic to next covering all aspects of the game.
Tone of address
(hectoring, sarcastic, ‘matey’, ironic, etc)
This will be a highly positive article. There will be slight negativity here and there but mostly positive coverage of the game.
Structure and pace
(discourse structure, logical paragraphing, connectives, conclusion)
This is another 6 column article broken by images and quotes with a small breakout box highlighting the main positives and the main negatives. A further box will be used for the main review score. There will be separate paragraphs for each reviewed section.
