Planning Comments
article genre
(purpose, type)
This is an opinionative and warning based article on the dangers of modern pre-ordering. This will have to be clearly branded as an opinion or I face being accused of slander.
Narrative voice
(1st, 2nd or 3rd person)
This again is a mixed voice article, featuring first person personal experiences and 2nd person audience directed language. There will be mainly 3rd person referring to company and game names.
Register
(informal/formal, colloquial, dialect, taboo words?)
This will be a formal article that sticks with a serious tone. It is intended to warn and shock over the shady practices of the industry. There will be no taboo language and the introduction will be summarising the article.
Stylistics
(repetition, strong verbs, adjectives, alliteration, similes, metaphors, sentencing, rhythm)
There is a strong repetition of the point that this is a warning article and will alert the audience to the issues with marketing. The lexis is direct and won’t make use of metaphors or similes.  There may be some gamer jargon and specialist vocabulary.
Tone of address
(hectoring, sarcastic, ‘matey’, ironic, etc)
There will be sarcasm but the tone will mainly be one of shock and warning. There may be some irony but I intend to keep the article serious.
Structure and pace
(discourse structure, logical paragraphing, connectives, conclusion)
This is a six-column article with paragraphs dedicated to examples, warning and practices. It is a relatively slow paced article with heavy language use and only one central image.
